The Season of Plunder added some of the best weapons in Destiny right now.
Best-in-slot DPS weapons
Ridiculously strong add clear
And a new perk that does BOTH
Today, I’m going to share how to get the 7 best weapons this season.
While still playing Destiny like a hobby (so your boss and family don’t hate you).
The 7 Best Season of Plunder Weapons
Outside of endgame content, these are the best weapons everyone should get. All of them are craftable, except Yesteryear. It’s so good that I’m actively playing Gambit (something I never thought I’d say).
Taipan-4FR
Brigand’s Law
Tarnished Mettle
Sailspy Pitchglass
Yesteryear
Ammit AR2
BxR-55 Battler
Taipan-4FR
Linear Fusion Rifles are the top DPS options in Destiny. Taipan-4FR is near the very top of that list. And it’s possible the easiest God Roll to get.
To craft your God Roll Taipan, head to the Enclave. You’ll be given a quest that gives you the Deepsight versions to craft. It’s a straightforward quest for a weapon everyone needs to have.
Here’s the God Roll you want to craft:
Arrowhead Brake
Perfect recoil for easy precision damage
Ionized Battery
Larger magazine size
Triple Tap
More damage in-between reloads
Firing Line
+20% precision damage when near 2+ allies
Every piece of content has enemies you’ll want Taipan-4FR in. It’s powerful against Champions in Nightfalls or Raids, minibosses in Ketchcrash, and bosses in pinnacle playlists.
And it’s basically handed to you.
Brigand’s Law
Voltshot is an underrated perk. Everyone sees how great it is for add clear, but it’s surprisingly powerful for DPS. I’ll explain under Sailspy Pitchglass.
Brigand’s Law is almost like a legendary version of Riskrunner. It’s arc chaining with Voltshot is more consistent than Riskrunner and almost as effective. This God Roll pairs perfectly with your favorite Arc 3.0 builds, but any subclass will enjoy it.
You’re looking to craft:
Hammer-Forged Rifling
Range significantly helps with damage falloff
Controllers may prefer Smallbore for the added stability
Accurized Rounds
Further improves damage falloff
Feeding Frenzy
Faster reloads after kills
You may prefer Pugilist if using a melee build
Voltshot
Huge add clear
This is a little harder to farm for. You’ll need to play Expeditions and Ketchcrash to get 5 Deepsight versions. Anecdotally, I got most of mine from progressing the weekly story quest.
With Plunder Umbral Energy, you can also focus engrams for Deepsights.
Tarnished Mettle
Tarnished Mettle is everything great about Brigand’s Law, but for endgame content. This Scout Rifle with Voltshot is shockingly good in Nightfalls or upcoming Arc Burn Grandmasters.
You’re looking for:
Arrowhead Brake
Easies to land precision damage
Accurized Rounds
or Flared Magwell for faster reloads
Demolitionist
To fuel your builds with more Grenades
Voltshot
Great add clear
Just like Brigand’s Law, you’ll be playing Plunder’s seasonal content. Each week, it’ll get easier to get Deepsight versions. If you play more casually (like myself these days), you’ll get
Sailspy Pitchglass
Most people are using the wrong roll. You probably saw the perk options and think Vorpal Weapon is the best. You may even think Voltshot is a bad perk on a Linear Fusion Rifle.
You’d be wrong.
Not because Vorpal Weapon is bad, but because most don’t know how Voltshot works. This perk applies Jolt after you defeat a target, reload, and then land a shot.
When a target is debuffed by Jolt:
They chain lightning to nearby targets (after additional damage is dealt to the target)
The target also takes additional damage when they receive damage
The second part is very important. Jolt works almost identically to Void 3.0’s Volatile debuff. On Sailspy Pitchglass, these extra ticks of Jolt damage add about 20% more damage.
This also stacks with all buffs or debuffs.
Don’t forget. Vorpal Weapon is only 10% on Linear Fusion Rifles. Joltshot is more damage AND the Arc chain kills nearby enemies.
Craft this roll:
Arrowhead Brake
Enhanced Battery
Clown Cartridge
Joltshot
Yesteryear
Yesteryear is the only weapon on this list you can’t craft. To get Yesteryear, you need to play Gambit. Normally I avoid this mode, but this Pulse Rifle has the best Void 3.0 perk.
Currently, the only Primary weapons in destiny that roll with Disruptor Brace are:
Doom of Chelchis (King’s Fall Scout Rifle)
The Hero’s Burden (Iron Banner SMG)
Unforgiven (Duality SMG)
Yesteryear (Gambit Pulse Rifle)
Disruptor Brace gives you an overshield when you defeat a Void-debuffed target. This overshield lasts for 8 seconds (9 with the Enhanced perk).
The best Void 3.0 builds are constantly debuffing targets. That’s a lot of overshields, even in endgame content.
Try to farm this role:
Arrowhead Brake (use a Counterbalance mod for perfefect recoil)
High-Caliber Rounds
Subsistence
Disruptor Brace
Ammit AR2
Solar 3.0 is still one of the strongest subclasses. Ammit AR2 is an extremely easy weapon to craft. While completing the quest line for Taipan, you’ll also be working towards crafting Ammit.
Why I’m farming to craft this weapon is I want Incandescent. In almost every season, Auto Rifles are given Overload Rounds from the artifact. It has the best Solar 3.0 perk and more range than Calus Mini-tool. For endgame content, this will be great to have.
Here’s the roll you’ll want to craft:
Arrowhead Brake
Ricochet Rounds
Dynamic Sway Reduction
Incandescent
BxR-55 Battler
This is my favorite Pulse Rifle in Destiny right now. It feels incredible to use, it has great versatility between short and long-range, and is perfect for Solar 3.0.
This is a tough one to farm, requiring Dares of Eternity completions. Unfortunately, there isn’t really much you can do. It’s so good though that I’m farming for Deepsights in between other weapons.
I’m looking to craft this:
Arrowhead Brake
Accurized Rounds
Demolitionist (PVE) or Perpetual Motion (PVP)
Incandescent (PVE) or Kill Clip (PVP)
That should give you plenty to do the rest of the season! I hope you have a good rest of your week.
Have you ever felt:
Gatekept from endgame content you paid for?
Anxiety and stress playing non-matchmade content?
The best loot is unobtainable?
You're wasting your time with nothing to show for it?
I will personally help you 1-on-1 get anything and everything out of Destiny. Fill your time with enjoyment and happiness rather than grind and uncertainty.
Great article!
A couple of notes: all reviews of Yesteryear I’ve seen so far rave about the Desperado perk. Do you have any thoughts on that? Also, this coming reset features double Gambit rep again, so it’ll be a great week to hunker down and farm those Yesteryears.
For the BxR Battler, there is currently a glitch where a character who has not completed the Dares intro quest line can drop it at the step where you use a treasure key to open Xur’s chest. The quest is designed to make sure it gives you BxR as your first Dares weapon, so all keys give you the BxR. Was still working as of a few days ago, but RNG has not been kind to me so I’m still sitting at 4/5 red borders.
